🌹 “Love the unbecoming,” says the rose. “Love the becoming something else. Don’t fear the unbecoming.” – Death Valley, Melissa Broder
These words remind me of a timeless hindi poem, Pushp ki Abhilasha (The Wish of a Flower):
🌹चाह नहीं, मैं सुरबाला के गहनों में गूँथा जाऊँ। चाह नहीं, प्रेमी-माला में बिंध प्यारी को ललचाऊ” – Pushp ki Abhilasha, Makhanlal Chaturvedi
The flower metaphorically refuses glory, ornament, or permanence. Instead, it embraces the path of unbecoming — to be broken, scattered, or given away — it means becoming part of something larger: the courage of those who walk the path of sacrifice and purpose.
As a leader, I hear in this both a challenge and an invitation:
- To not cling to titles, positions, or recognition.
- To not fear the letting go that growth requires.
- To remember that our “unbecoming” can create space for collective becoming.
The author and poet invite us that true legacy lies not in preservation, but in transformation.
